Guardian Animal Aftercare offers the gift of free grief counseling with one of our pet loss bereavement specialists to all of our clients in need. We provide this service in conjunction with Dr. Kathleen Ayl, Dr. Trish Lane, Dr. Dominic Coppola, Cheri Barton Ross and the Los Angeles County Pet Bereavement Program. If during this time of bereavement, you feel this service would be beneficial to you in any way, please let a member of our staff know.

Dr. Kathleen Ayl has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and specializes in Grief Counseling. She found her calling after volunteering her services in Calcutta at the Home For The Dying. Dr. Ayl has spent the last ten years helping people with all different types of grief, from the loss of a child to the loss of a beloved pet.

"Grief is all around us and sometimes it goes unrecognized as such. My goal is to continue to teach others how to recognize it, and be sensitive to it, so that they may help someone else through a very painful part of life.” – Dr. Ayl

Dr. Trish Lane is a licensed clinical psychologist and is one of the owners of the California Animal Referral & Emergency Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. Cheri Barton Ross has specialized in pet bereavement for over twenty years and sponsors the oldest pet bereavement support group in California. She is also the author of "Pet Loss and Human Emotion, guiding clients through grief." Cheri Barton Ross has helped people work through the difficult issue of pet loss by facilitating her professional bereavement counseling groups.
